Remember Clay

Recently, our 22-year-old son, Clay, made a rash decision and took his life.

He loved God and thought deeply about what it meant to follow Jesus daily. He reached out to those he sensed were alone in the crowd. We all miss him deeply.

We realize almost everyone visiting this page has a personal connection with Clay or our family, and we thank you for your love for Clay and your prayers for us. God is dispensing his grace through your kindness to us.

We will grieve appropriately, but we will not live in despair nor the land of what-ifs. Our comfort is from the confidence that he now lives fully in the freedom Jesus promises. We have an extensive support network of friends and a faith that God will sustain and heal us. In short, don't worry about us. You can pray for us. You can feel for us, but please don't fret over us.

We posted this simple web page as a practical way to provide basic information for this season, including ways you can help.

We love you all,
Ron, Janet, and Grace

Messages to us

If you wish to contact us, please do. If you don't know us or have our emails, please send us a note to rememberclay@hallmonitor.com. It comes straight to our devices, just like all our emails.

If we don't get back to you within two days, please try again, as that would only happen if we missed the email. We will not ignore or avoid anyone, nor are we too distressed to engage.

Clay's close personal connections were many. If this loss weighs you down, please do not to bear that alone. Reach out to someone who can walk with you.

If you do not have someone or believe talking with us would help, please reach out to us through the email above. You will not be intruding. We welcome you.

We will gladly share our perspective, and if needed, we can connect you with someone who can walk alongside. Our hope is for everyone to navigate this with the least amount of emotional weight possible.

Donations

In lieu of flowers, Clay can be honored with a donation in his name to either of the charities below. Both are faith-based organizations that help the homeless through personal relationships. Clay always focused on relationships over programs.

Just indicate on the donation form that you are making the donation in "honor/memory" then enter Clay's name.

How You Can Help

Please send us any thoughts, memories, photos, or videos you have of Clay. These items encourage us, but they also serve a practical purpose. Coupled with what we already have, they will provide a broad foundation for structuring a service for Clay.

You can email them to us at rememberclay@hallmonitor.com. If the file sizes are too large, let us know and we will provide a way for you to upload them.

Clay's Celebration of Life

There will be a service celebrating Clay's life at 11 am on Saturday, March 27, in the IBC Sanctuary. This is a large space that allows for social distancing between parties. IBC requires masks, and we will have those available if you forget yours.

Irving Bible Church
2435 Kinwest Pkwy
Irving, TX 75063
972-560-4600

We will record the service and make it available online the week after, as we know many want to attend but cannot for various reasons.
